Kevin Bright, the executive producer of TV sitcom ‘Friends’, said that Hollywood actor Julia
Roberts made sure she was a tough catch for a guest appearance in one of the
episodes, he told Hollywood Reporter.

Bright shared an anecdote,
not known to many, of how they got Roberts to star on the show, in honour of
the 25th anniversary of the show’s ‘The One After the Superbowl’
episode.

Matthew Perry,
popularly known as Chandler Bing on ‘Friends’, asked Roberts to appear as a guest.
Roberts did not agree straight away. She kept Perry on his toes, asking him to
write a paper on quantum physics and then she would do the role.

According to Bright,
Perry wrote the paper and faxed it to her the next day.

‘Friends’ co-creator
Marta Kauffman said the process of getting Jula Roberts to say yes to the show
was an exciting task.

Alexa Junge, one of
the writers on the show, said that Roberts showed interest in Perry because of
his charming personality. She also said that some casual flirting took place
over the faxing, as Roberts gave him questionnaires with quirky questions.
