We are living in the 21st
century and for some reason talking about periods is still a taboo. It is a
biological occurrence which women have been ‘suffering’ from since they set foot
on the face of the earth but they still can not openly discuss about it. This
has given rise to a number of myths which plague the minds of a large number of
women who have been coerced into believing them.

Period blood is dirty

Period blood is free of any kind of toxins from

the former contains uterine tissues, mucus lining and bacteria; none of which
makes it impure or dirty.

Periods should ideally be four days long

Every woman’s body functions differently
and it is normal for a period cycle to last between 2 – 8 days. However, if
your cycle lasts less than 2 days or more than 8 days then you must pay a visit
to the doctor.

You can not get pregnant during periods

Sperm can live inside the body for up to
five days. If a person has intercourse on the last day of their period, then it is
possible for the sperm to be surviving in their body when ovulation occurs
which can lead to unwanted pregnancies.

Menstruation stops underwater

While the flow of blood certainly slows
down, it does not stop completely. This happens because of the water pressure surrounding
your body.

a girl impure in any manner.

You should not eat sour items during
periods

A lot of women are told at a very young age
to not eat sour items while their periods are ongoing. However, there is no scientific
