When the incident took place the health authorities from Cyprus opened an investigation to see if the “serious thrombotic episode” was linked to the AstraZeneca jab.
Along with investigating the death of the woman, Cyprus is also investigating four other cases of ‘mild’ blood clotting, which occurred after the AstraZeneca jab.
CNA reported that European Medicines Agency (EMA) would investigate the death, said Charalambos Charilaou, spokesperson for the state health services.

AstraZeneca is the backbone of the vaccination rollout in Cyprus, where family doctors have allowed to administer the jab to anybody aged over 20.

The data from Cyprus shows that 49 % of the Cyprus adult population has received a COVID-19 vaccine shot, and 21 % of the population is fully vaccinated.
