In the past 24 hours, India recorded 326,098 cases of COVID-19. The tally of COVID-19 in India now stands at 24,372,907. A total of 3,890 people died from COVID-related ailments in India on Friday. The death toll from COVID-19 in India has now climbed up to 266,207. 

There are currently 3,673,802 active cases of coronavirus in India. After 353,299 people recovered from the COVID-19 infection across the nation on Friday, the tally of recovered COVID-19 cases in India now stands at 20,432,898. 

The Indian Council of Medical Research on Saturday said that 313,017,193 samples for COVID-19 have been tested in India up to May 14. On Friday, 169, 093 samples for COVID-19 were tested across the nation, the ICMR said. 

The mass vaccination drive against COVID-19 kicked off in India on January 16 and since then at 180,457,579 have at least received a single shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. India is currently administering indigenously developed Covaxin, manufactured by Bharat Biotech, and Serum Institute’s Covishield, which has been made in collaboration with the Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine. 

India on Friday administered the first foreign-made vaccine, Russia’s Sputnik V. India has received the first batch of Sputnik V, approximately 150,000 doses, and each jab is priced at Rs 948, with 5% GST.
