In the last 24 hours, India recorded 392,488 cases of coronavirus, taking the COVID-19 tally of the nation to 19,557,457. A total of 3,689 people died from COVID-related complications in India on Saturday. The COVID-19 death toll has now climbed to 215,542. 

There are currently 3,349,644 active cases of coronavirus in India. A total of 15,992,271 people have recovered from the COVID-19 infection until now.

290,142,339 samples tested up to May 1, 2021, according to the Indian Medical Council of Research. Of these, 1,804,954 samples were tested yesterday.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7; 30 lakh on August 23; 40 lakh on September 5; and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28; 70 lakh on October 11; crossed 80 lakh on October 29;  90 lakh on November 20; and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

India crossed the grim milestone of 15,000,000 on April 19.

India kicked off its mass vaccination drive, the world’s largest, on January 16 and as of May 2, more than 156,600,000 people have at least receive a single shot of the COVID-19 vaccine in the country.
