India reported 38,353 new COVID-19 cases and 497 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry.  The number of new COVID-19 cases rose by over 10,000 from Monday when India reported 28,204 infections, the lowest in 147 days.

The daily positivity rate stands at 2.16%. The positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 16 days. The weekly positivity rate too has remained below 5%, and is currently at 2.34%.

India’s active caseload currently stands at 3,86,351, the lowest number in 140 days. Active cases constitute 1.21% of total cases reported. The ratio of active cases to total cases is the lowest since March.

With 3,12,20,981 recoveries, the country’s recovery rate has shot up to 97.45%. A total of 40,013 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. 

Meanwhile, COVID testing capacity has been ramped up significantly. 48.5 crore tests have been conducted so far. 

Further, 51.9 crore doses of vaccine have been administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive. More than 2.25 crore unused vaccine doses remain available with states and union territories and private hospitals, the union health ministry said.
