Food delivery apps Zomato and Swiggy are not delivering orders after 8 pm in Maharashtra. The companies have taken the decision on the state government’s orders that allow delivery services to operate between 7 am to 8 pm. The government took the decision over the massive surge in COVID-19 cases in the state.

Both Zomato and Swiggy have sent out notifications to their users regarding the decision.
“We’re currently not accepting orders online. We’ll be back soon,” reads the message on Zomato if a user places an order after 8 pm.
“We are not delivering here at the moment!” reads the message on Swiggy.
Maharashtra government has announced night curfew and weekend lockdown to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Night curfew begins at 8 pm and ends at 7 am. On weekdays, take-away orders, parcels, and home delivery services are allowed from 7 am to 8 pm, as per the government’s order.
On weekends, only home delivery services are allowed during the same time interval. Visiting restaurants, hotels and bars is not allowed.

Among all the states, Maharashtra has seen the sharpest rise in the daily number of COVID-19 cases. On Sunday, the state logged a record number of 57,074 new COVID-19 cases. Mumbai too logged a record number of 11,776 cases the same day.
