Many states in the United States have stepped in to give
unemployment benefits to their residents as the federal deadline for the
stimulus checks draws near.

 A big
number of Americans are still receiving the unemployment benefits extended due
to the pandemic but according to reports, the federal government does not seem
keen to extend a fourth stimulus check. This could put many in new financial
distress.

The federal unemployment benefits are set to
expire on September 5. Many states like Alaska, Missouri, Mississippi, Iowa,
Idaho, Nebraska, North Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming, Texas, Ohio, Florida,
Georgia, Arizona, Montana, Tennessee, and Louisiana ended the benefits back in
the end of July, IB Times reported.

However, some states are giving other forms of
stimulus checks. While a few states have awarded the benefits already, the
proposal is in the pipeline for some.

The States of California and New Mexico are
providing extra funds to residents. The California check is called the “Golden
State Stimulus”. Under the plan, the residents are getting $600. On the other
hand, the state of New Mexico plans to distribute $5 million in funds to
residents who did not qualify for a federal stimulus check.

In addition to the two states, Colorado,
Maryland, Michigan and New York also sent out some stimulus money to some
residents, according to a report by Yahoo News. Georgia, Texas, Florida and
Tennessee, the states where the unemployment benefits ended, have provided
bonuses to teachers and other educators.

The federal government is not planning to
extend another stimulus check.
