To control the crowd, registration on the CoWIN web portal and taking an appointment to get a COVID-19 vaccine shot would be mandatory for those aged between 18 and 44 years, PTI reported quoting official sources. India, currently witnessing a sudden spike in coronavirus cases, has decided to open vaccination for all above 18 from May 1.

According to PTI, citizens aged above 45 can still get registered on-site.

The Union Health Ministry has announced that eligible persons will be able to register themselves for vaccination on the CoWIN platform and Aarogya Setu App from April 28. The inoculation process and documents to be provided to get the jab remains the same.

Here’s how you can register on CoWIN platform:

1. Head to cowin.gov.in and click on Register/Sign in Yourself.

2. Enter your mobile number and select Get OTP. Wait for the OTP to come to your cell. Now enter the received password on the site and click Verify.

3. Put all the details, including your photo ID proof on the Register for Vaccination page. Click on Register.

4. Now you’ll get an option to schedule your appointment. Click on Schedule next to your name.

5. Enter your pin code and click Search. The vaccination centres will show on your screen. Select the date and time and confirm your appointment.

6. You can add up to four members with one login. You can also reschedule your appointment if necessary.

From May 1, the present system of private COVID-19 vaccination centres receiving doses from the government and charging up to Rs 250 per dose from people will cease to exist and private hospitals will procure directly from vaccine manufacturers.
