The lower the oxygen levels, the more severe the hypoxemia will be. This leads to complications in body tissues and organs. Symptoms of hypoxemia are headache, breathlessness, fast heartbeat, coughs, wheezing, confusion, bluish coloured nails, lips, and other parts of the skin. Symptoms of cyanosis are skin discolouration (typically, the skin turns blue), on lips, toes and fingers, and mucous membranes.
