Periods are different for every woman, but one thing that is common is they are not easy. Thanks to constant cramps, heavy bleeding, bloating, stress, work overload, obesity, nausea, and various other factors. With that, stress and an unhealthy lifestyle can add to these problems by making your menstrual cycle irregular. Delay in periods from the expected time or have it before the time is termed as irregular periods and if this happens frequently, then one must consult their doctor immediately. 

The irregularity in periods can be caused due to several factors such as PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), uterine fibroids, different medications etc.

But, there are some professionals who are using social media to help women to get rid of their problems with the help of yoga. On World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2021, let us know about the various asanas that experts believe help regulate the menstrual cycle.

Professionals such as Dr Anjali Kumar and Dr Dixa Bhavsar use social media platforms to share videos and posts related to how to manage irregular periods.

According to Dr Dixa, yoga is a good way to help you manage your menstrual cramps, irregular periods and other problems related to it. She suggested 5 yoga asanas, including ‘Suryanamaskar’, Kapalbhati Pranayam, Bhadrasana (Butterfly pose), Dhanurasana (Bow pose) and Vajrasana (After meals).

These asanas help in relaxing your body and gives flexibility and balance. 

Doing the asanas regularly also help in reducing stress and anxiety. The motive is to be calm and let your muscles relax, mainly around your thighs, hips and the pelvis.
