World’s fastest sprinter, Usain Bolt has tested positive for COVID-19, Jamaican Health Ministry confirmed on late Monday after the eight-time Olympic gold medalist posted a video on social media. Bolt posted a video on social media around midday, saying he ‘was waiting to hear back on his results’.

Bolt, who is the only sprinter who has won the 100-metre and 200-metre golds at Olympics in 2008, 2012 and 2016, posted a video message on Twitter, saying he is quarantining himself to be safe. Alongside the video, he wrote, “Stay safe my ppl.”

The sprinter however said, he did not have any symptoms of the COVID-19 disease.

Bolt celebrated his birthday on Friday in Jamaica and took the test for coronavirus on Saturday.

Jamaica has recorded over 1,612 cases of coronavirus, with 622 active cases and 16 deaths.
