The COVID-19 tally of India touched 1,11,73,761 on Friday after 16,838 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours. With 113 new deaths recorded on Thursday. India's death toll from COVID-19 has now climbed to 1,57,548, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data.

The tally of recovered COVID-19 cases reached 1,08,39,894 on Friday as 13,819 people recovered from the coronavirus infection on Thursday . There are currently 1,76,319 active cases of coronavirus in India.

According to ICMR, a total of 21,99,40,742 samples tested for COVID-19 up to 4th March 2021. Of these, 7,61,834 samples were tested on Thursday.

India is the second worst-hit nation worldwide from the coronavirus the country's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7; 30 lakh on August 23; 40 lakh on September 5; and 50 lakh on September 16. The tally went past 60 lakh on September 28; 70 lakh on October 11; 80 lakh on October 29; 90 lakh on November 20; and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
