Indian cricket team captain KL Rahul won the toss in the second ODI match against Zimbabwe and chose to field. This is the second time when Team India has opted to field first, as they did in the first match when they bowled Zimbabwe out for 189 runs in 40.3 overs. Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, and Axar Patel all displayed an impressive performance in the game as they claimed three wickets each.
However, Deepak Chahar has been replaced in the Indian team with Shardul Thakur for the second ODI match. The 30-year-old was the highlight of India’s bowling prowess in the previous match as he claimed three wickets in seven overs. He was also adjudged as the Player of the Match.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe has opted to drop Tadiwanashe Marumani for the second ODI match. 29-year-old Takudzwanashe Kaitano has replaced Marumani in the lineup and will be opening for the African side.
Apart from Marumani, Tanaka Chivanga has also been included in the Zimbabwe squad in place of Richard Ngarava. The 29-year-old right-arm pacer will be hoping to put up a better display against the Men in Blue than in the first ODI.
India is playing a three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe in Harare, following which they will fly to participate in the Asia Cup 2022 in the United Arab Emirates. A victory in the second ODI match will mean the Indians have won the series, which will also mark KL Rahul’s second victory as a captain.

A win on August 20 against Zimbabwe will also help Deepak Hooda to win 16 matches since his international debut and will leapfrog Romania’s Satvik Nadigotla (15) as the only cricketer to win 16 consecutive matches since his national team debut.
