megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati
Hospital after he tested positive for coronavirus. 

The actor announced the news on his official Twitter handle on Saturday night. “I have tested CoviD positive .. shifted to Hospital .. hospital informing authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited ..All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested,” he posted. 

Abhishek Bachchan had later announced that he had also tested postitive for coronavirus. “Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you,” he posted on his official Twitter account. 

The
77-year-old actor was last seen in Shoojit Sircar’s comedy-drama Gulabo Sitabo
alongside Ayushmann Khurrana.

He will be hosting
the twelfth season of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. The auditions of the show
concluded in May this year.

Amitabh
Bachchan’s upcoming movies include Chehre, Brahmastra and Jhund.

Bollywood recently resumed film shoots after a months-long hiatus following the imposition of a nationwide lockdown in India in late March.

But actors over the age of 65, such as Bachchan, are banned from set due to their vulnerability to the virus.

India’s nationwide coronavirus toll rose Saturday to 820,916 cases — the third highest in the world — with 22,123 deaths.
