Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that the prominent reason for the COVID-19 surge in Delhi is the rise in air pollution, PTI reported. The increasing COVID-19 cases are expected to come under control in 7-10 days as the government is considering taking several steps next week, he added.

“COVID-19 situation in Delhi should come under control in 7-10 days; we are considering taking several steps next week,” he said.

“Main reason behind the spike in COVID-19 cases in Delhi is pollution,” the CM said.

Delhi recorded 7,053 COVID-19 cases and 104 fatalities. On Wednesday, the national capital recorded its highest single-day spike of 8,593 COVID-19.

Addressing a press conference, the chief minister informed that the Pusa bio decomposer developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) managed to decompose at least 70% of the stubble in 24 villages in Delhi.

“IARI’s anti-stubble solution decomposed 70 to 95% crop residue in 24 villages in Delhi,” he said.

Kejriwal also mentioned that the Delhi government will soon submit an assessment report to Centre’s air quality commission and request it to implement Pusa bio decomposer in all states.

Notably, on November 4, Kejriwal said the city has seen a jump in the number of new COVID-19 cases in the last few days and it can be called a “third wave”.
