Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt shared her 10-year plan in a recent interview, and it’s not what we expected.

The 28-year-old is currently occupied with the promotions of her upcoming film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi‘. During an interview with Film Companion, she said, “If I am being a producer, I am getting a percentage on the profit, it’s a great thing for me. For me, it’s not about the money, it’s actually about if I reached a certain point (after 10 years in the industry) where I think I am in a good position to support new talent. It’s not only about fueling my engine, I can now use the fuel and fuel other engines as well. At the end of the day, we all are contributing to cinema.”

The Highway actor is all set to debut as a producer in the film ‘Darlings’ under her banner ‘Eternal Sunshine Productions’. She will also be the lead actor in the movie, alongside Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew.

She added in the interview, “So I realise, why can’t I be one of those people who is part of a creative production process. Putting a project together creatively, holding the director’s or writer’s hand, may be not always starring in the film; that’s something that I want to do. If you ask me my next 10 year plan, it’s building my production house.”

Bhatt also said that she had already been receiving messages and pitches on the Instagram page of her production house. “I want to tell stories that are unpredictable. The films we now see are on OTT a lot. I want to move to a position of a spotter (nurture new talent. It’s not going to happen overnight. I have to build it, it will take time,” she said.

The actor will next appear in Gangubai Kathiawadi, a biographical crime drama set to release on February 25. The story traces how a young girl sold to a brothel, transforms into the matriarch, Gangubai. Thereon, she gives voice to the oppressed and tries to legitimize her profession as a sex worker. Director and producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali spoke to Variety about the movie, saying it is “the story of a woman’s fight against the injustices imposed on sex workers. It gives me immense pride that my team and I have portrayed Gangubai’s relentless pursuit for women’s empowerment through this film”.  

Her other major movies in the pipeline include Brahmastra, RRR, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, Jee Le Zaraa, and Takht, among others.
