The 2021 edition of Apple‘s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) kicks off on Monday with a keynote address. During that address, chief executive Tim Cook and other top Apple officials are expected to reveal the future of the company’s software efforts.

The tech giant will preview the next version of iOS that could structurally change its iPhones. But this year’s changes on iOS are expected to be less dramatic.

Having said that, a lot is still expected from the new features that are to be rolled out as part of iOS 15.

Apple’s keynote for the event will take place on June 7 at 10 am PDT (10.30 pm IST). Just like the previous year, Apple will hold an online-only event due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The annual developers conference of Apple, Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), will be held online from June 7-11. Consumers and developers can stream it live for free.

iOS 15: Certainly, the tech giant Apple, will announce the next version of iOS, the operating system that powers the iPhone, next week. Rumours say that iOS 15 is likely to bring more accurate controls over notifications.

Seemingly, users will also be given the option to set different notification preferences depending on their current status (for example, sleeping or driving).

It is also expected that, iOS 15 might add new device privacy protections like – an updated lock screen and a redesigned iPad home screen with widgets.

Rumours have also been sparked that Apple is working on revamping its iMessage, with the aim to turn it as a competitor to the widely used messaging app WhatsApp.

With iOS 15, it is expected that the new iOS update will probably work on iPhone 7 and the later devices. This clearly means that the – iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and the original iPhone SE – won’t work with iOS 15.

WWDC 2021 – iOS 15 beta

For developers, the iOS 15 developer beta will be available for download after the new iOS update is announced. For the iOS 15 public beta, the users will have to wait till July.

Apple, like the previous year, will release iOS 15 later this year. This generally happens in September. That is when Apple announces the new iPhone.

Once iOS 15 is made available for download this fall, the users will be able to download the update by simply going to the Settings app>General>Software update.
