The Wimbledon trophy is one of the highest honours in tennis that can be achieved by a player. The current greats who have taken their shots and walked home with the trophy include names like Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. 

However, an object of curiosity has been the pineapple at the top of the cup. A spokesperson for Wimbledon clarified that in the 17th century, pineapples were near impossible to grow in England. Therefore, the tropical fruit had to be imported, and receiving one became a great compliment. 

Similarly, several stately homes in the UK have pineapple on gateposts, to denote their rarity.
