Answer: Pushpa: The Rise
Sukumar wrote and directed Pushpa: The Rise – Part 01, a 2021 Indian Telugu-language action drama film. It is produced by Mythri Movie Makers in collaboration with Muttamsetty Media and stars Allu Arjun as the titular character, Fahadh Faasil (in his Telugu debut), and Rashmika Mandanna, with Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Sunil, Rao Ramesh, Dhananjaya, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Ajay and Ajay Ghosh in supporting roles. In the first of two cinematic portions, the film chronicles the emergence of a coolie in the red sandalwood smuggling syndicate, a rare wood that grows exclusively in the Andhra Pradesh state’s Seshachalam Hills.
Devi Sri Prasad created the film’s score and soundtrack, while Miroslaw Kuba Brozek and Karthika Srinivas–Ruben handled cinematography and editing, respectively. The Rise was released in Telugu on December 17, 2021, along with dubbed versions in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi. Critics gave the film mixed to excellent reviews, praising Allu Arjun’s acting and characterisation, action sequences, director, and score while criticising the length. The Rise is a commercial triumph, collecting a total of Rs 365 crore at the box office. The film became the highest-grossing Indian picture in 2021, and it ranks among the top Telugu films of all time. The second installment, Pushpa 2: The Rule, is set to begin development in April 2022.
The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2022, held on February 20, were a brilliant affair. The film festival honoured Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise, as well as Sidharth Malhotra’s Shershaah and Vicky Kaushal’s Sardar Udham.
