The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on March 30, 2022, approved the formation of 13 new districts and 22 new revenue divisions, in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“The CM said the targets set for sustainable economic growth should be linked with the new districts. He instructed the officials to complete identification of suitable land for construction of administrative buildings in new districts and to ensure that there is at least 15 acres of land. He also told officials to make sure that offices along with residence of district collector and Superintendent of Police are in the same complex. The CM also directed to give priority to construction of new buildings in the proposed districts where buildings have been taken on rental,” Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, a senior advisor to the Andhra Pradesh government, told Indian Express after the meeting.

The 13 new districts that have been created are Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Anakapalle, Konaseema, Rajamhmundry, Narsapuram, Bapatla, Narsaraopet, Tirupati Sri Balaji, Annamayya, Nandyal, Sri Satya Sai, and NTR Vijayawada.

Meanwhile, the 22 new revenue divisions are Palasa, Bobbili, Cheepurupalli, Bheemili, Kothapet, Kuppam, Bhimavaram, Vuyyuru, Tiruvur, Nandigama, Bapatla, Chirala, Sathenapalli, Atmakur, Dhone, Guntakal, Dharmavaram, Puttaparthi, Rayachoti, Palamaneru, Nagari, and Srikalahasti.

The new districts will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister on April 4, 2022.
