Indian Home Minister Amit Shah on January 23, 2022 revealed the first ever rankings under the composite District Good Governance Index (DGGI) for Jammu & Kashmir, where the district of Jammu topped the list, followed by Doda, Samba, Pulwama, and Srinagar.
“I want to congratulate all residents of J&K for the launch of the District Good Governance Index. This is an important day not just for Jammu and Kashmir but for entire India,” Shah said during the virtual launch of the DGGI rankings.
The DGGI is a framework that analyses performance under 10 governance sectors based on 58 indicators that make use of 116 data points.
The governance sectors that are analysed under the DGGI framework include Agriculture and allied sector (11 indicators), Commerce and Industry (05), Human Resource Development (09), Public Health (09), Public Infrastructure and Utilities (06), Social Welfare and Development (06), Financial Inclusion (03), Judiciary and Public Safety (04), Environment (02) and Citizen Centric Governance (03).
