The new variant of COVID-19 is creating waves all over the world. A number of countries are beginning to take precautions and close their borders again. While it is tempting to go all out this New Year’s eve after two years of lockdown, it’s much smarter to stay at home. As omicron makes its presence felt globally people are advised to not gather for New Year parties this year. However, that does not mean you have to get bored at home.

Spa night: We’ve all been anxious this year, worked a lot, and many of us are quite burnt out. Take this opportunity to pamper yourself and plan a spa night on New Year’s eve. Step into 2022 fresh-faced and feeling awesome. Make it a girls night in or plan a romantic setting with an intimate spa session with your partner!

Board game night: Board games are super fun, and they are the perfect way to connect with your family. Pick up some of the most popular games, especially some from your childhood, and make a night of it. Spend the evening bickering, laughing, and chilling with the family.

Letters to the family: NYE is the perfect time to think about what you’ve received throughout the year, and celebrate those who are closest to you. If you’re at home, take some time out and write letters to your family. You can also have a little party while exchanging them. It’s the best way to show them how much you love them.

Indoor treasure hunt: Have kids to entertain? Live with college roommates? Have a partner who loves going out? A treasure hunt is an excellent idea for you! You can hide your New Year or Christmas presents. Use the entire house, and make the evening fun.

Picnic with loved ones: If you’re bored of being confined to the house, the garden is an ideal place to head to. Those with a home garden can plan a cute little picnic with the family, friends and loved ones. If you don’t have a garden or yard, you can always head to one of the nearby parks in the city. Want to make things more fun? Plan a midnight picnic inside the house itself, with tents, sleeping bags and all that jazz.

Dance party: If you can’t go to the party, bring the party to you! There are some banging tracks online, and you can always order some delicious grub. Instead of dancing with hundreds of strangers, invite your closest friends and loved ones over and dance into the New Year. Throw in some karaoke, and you’re golden!

Catch up on the reading: We’re often too busy to indulge in our hobbies. The long holiday season is the best time to catch up on that pending reading. Make a sizeable dent in your to-be-read list this New Year’s eve. The cold weather simply makes it perfect! Just find a cozy nook, make yourself some hot cocoa, and spend the night reading.
