A newly married daughter in Andhra Pradesh received a colossal amount of fish, pickles, vegetables and sweets from her father during the sacred month of Ashadha Masam in Telugu tradition. The gift has gone viral for being a super unconventional gift to a newly married bride.
Battula Balarama Krishna, a businessman from Rajahmundry, gifted his daughter 1000 kg fish, 1000 kg vegetables, 250 kg prawns, 250 kg grocery items, 250 jars of pickles, 250 kg sweets, 50 chicken, 10 goats and got it delivered to her residence in Yanam, Puducherry, leaving the family shocked.

In a bid to make his daughter%u2019s first Ashadha Manas special after her marriage to Pawan Kumar, son of a business tycoon in Puducherry, Batulla Balarama Krishna sent the gift to her husband%u2019s house in Yanam, making it look as grand as he could.
Also known as Shunya Masam, Ashadha Masam witnesses newly married brides visiting their mothers%u2019 house in order to stay away from the mother-in-law and the husband during the month, as per rituals. The holy month falls in June-July in the Gregorian calendar. It is mainly celebrated to fight the heat and other climatic conditions during summers. Although inauspicious for many auspicious programs, including marriages, new house construction and sacred thread wearing ritual, it marks the beginning of various puja, fasting rituals, and yatras.
