Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, announced a string of promises on Wednesday ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections. The elections, which will be held in a single phase, are scheduled to be held on February 14, 2022. 

Here are the highlights of Arvind Kejriwal’s press conference in Mohali:

-The Aam Aadmi Party chief said that if the elections are in their favour, the “drug syndicate from Punjab” will be wiped out. He also vowed to “ensure justice in all cases of sacrilege and end corruption.”

-Arvind Kejriwal said the party will be giving away a sum of Rs. 1,000 per month to every woman who is above the age of 18.

-The Aam Aadmi Party has prepared a 10-point plan that will ensure a “developed & prosperous” Punjab. “We will make such a prosperous Punjab that the youth who went to Canada for employment will return in the next 5 years”, news agency ANI reported.

-The Delhi politician also promised to provide 24-7 free electricity for Punjab.

“I agree that if Sanyukt Samaj Morcha contests the Punjab Assembly elections separately, it will definitely eat into votes of Aam Aadmi Party”, Kejriwal said in the Mohali press conference on Wednesday, according to reports from ANI.

Before the press conference started, he said that the Aam Aadmi Party will reveal its Chief Minister candidate for Punjab will be announced next week. In a statement last year, the national convenor for the Kejriwal-led party said that the chief ministerial would likely be someone from the Sikh community.

In his presser, Kejriwal also targetted current Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s government and spoke on the recent incidents of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security breach, bomb blast and sacrilege incidents. “Law and order situation is deteriorating. The Channi government could not handle it”, PTI reported.
