Thirty-two years ago on this day, cricket prodigy Sachin Tendulkar became the youngest cricket player to score a Test 50, at age 16. On November 24, 1989, in a match against Pakistan, young Tendulkar and Sanjay Manjrekar struck a partnership with 143 runs. Although India didn’t win the match, Tendulkar showed the world his unmatched batting skills.

The match, held in Faisalabad,  was a stepping stone for Tendulkar. The ICC shared this moment on its Instagram handle, a picture of the 16-year-old Tendulkar, with the caption: “16 years, 214 days old- On this day in 1989, a rising Indian star became the youngest man to score a Test 50. Guess who?” The post immediately garnered thousands of likes and comments by fans, calling Sachin the “God of cricket”.

Over these three decades, Sachin Tendulkar has forged his name not only as a legendary sportsman, but as an international icon. He has set records in Test cricket and ODIs, led the national cricket team as captain, and mentored Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 48-year-old cricket star has amassed more than 30 million followers on social media and countless brand deals and endorsements, including Boost, Unacademy and Castrol.

Tendulkar co-authored his autobiography in 2014, “Playing It My Way”, with Boria Majumdar. He also starred in the 2017 documentary “Sachin: A Billion Dreams”, directed by James Erksine.

Sachin Tendulkar has been awarded the Bharat Ratna, Padma Shri, Padma Vibhushan, Maharashtra Bhushan and numerous sports awards for his exceptional  achievements. Sachin Tendulkar has carved his name in cricket history, creating moments that will never be forgotten.
