Bihar is known for some of the most politically inclined populace in the country.
CM and Janata Dal (United) Nitish Kumar who has been the state’s leader since 2005 (he, however, resigned in 2014 in the aftermath of the Lok Sabha election, but came back to power in 2015) is pitted against a resurgent Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Kumar is the chief ministerial candidate of the National Democratic Alliance, which includes the Bhartiya Janata Party and Yadav is the candidate for the Grand Alliance, also known as Mahagathbandhan, which includes Congress.
