The Commonwealth Games enthusiasm reached its peak during the second day for Indian fans, when the country clinched its first medal, courtesy of weightlifter Sanket Sargar. India went on to clinch a total of four medals on Saturday, including a gold by Saikhom Mirabai Chanu. While the second day of action provided much excitement, day 3 will offer even more to the viewers as several Indian medal hopefuls will take centre stage on Sunday. Let’s take a look at the top Indian athletes who will be in action on day 3.
Jeremy Lalrinnunga (67kg), Popy Hazarika (women’s 59 kg) and Achinta Sheuli (73kg) – (Weightlifting)
The weightlifting contingent has been overly impressive at the Commonwealth Games till now. All four of India’s medals at the Commonwealth Games have come in weightlifting, courtesy of Sanket Sargar, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, Gururaja Poojary and Bindyarani Devi.

Day 3 of the action will see three more weightlifters take centre stage. Jeremy Lalrinnunga (67kg) will begin his event at 2 pm IST, while Achinta Sheuli (73kg) will be in contention for a medal from 11 pm IST.
Popy Hazarika will represent India in the women’s 59 kg weightlifting category and her event will begin at 6:30 pm IST.
Yogeshwar Singh and Ruthuja Nataraj – (Artistics Gymnastics)
25-year-old Yogeshwar Singh became the only Indian male athlete to qualify for the Artistics Gymnastics all-around final on Friday when he finished in 18th place. He will be hoping to give his best on Sunday and win a medal. The event will begin at 1:30 pm IST.
Meanwhile, Ruthuja Nataraj also qualified for the women’s all-around final in Artistics Gymnastics on Saturday. She will begin her medal push at 7 pm IST on Sunday.

Indian women’s cricket team
The women’s cricket team will be playing their second group stage match against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground from 3:30 pm. The Indian eves were unable to begin their CWG campaign with a win, as they were beaten by Australia in the opening game. However, a win against Pakistan is bound to bring back their confidence for the upcoming match against Barbados.
