India has currently racked up a total number of 14.3 million COVID-19 cases, of which 12.5 million have recovered, and around 174, 000 have died. Here are a few updates about the pandemic situation in the country.

  1.  ICSE deferred board exams for classes 10, 12, and said that the new dates will be announced in June. While the Class 12 Exam (offline) will be conducted at a later date, appearing for the Exam is optional for Class 10 students. For those Class 10 students who choose not to appear for exams, CISCE will develop an objective criterion for their results
  2. Department Of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) announced that those appearing for examinations this weekend in Delhi will not require curfew e-passes. 
  3. There is no restriction on inter-state movement of medical oxygen. States must ensure free movement of oxygen-carrying vehicles, says the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). 
  4. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar tests positive for coronavirus. Javadekar is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and currently serving as the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, and Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
  5. In the light of the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases, the Indian Army has issued directions to reduce attendance in its offices by 50%. 
  6. Uttar Pradesh sees a record-high daily count in COVID-19 cases of 27,426, reports PTI.
  7. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy wrote to PM Narendra Modi, said that they ‘have run out of vaccine stock’, reports Times of India.

  8. Delhi recorded 19,486 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, which is the highest single-day surge in the national capital since the pandemic began, the health department said on Friday
  9.  Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Friday tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time in eight months. He has been shifted to a private hospital for treatment.  
  10. Maharashtra logged the highest-single day spike of 63, 729 COVID-19 cases.
