Due to cyclone Yaas, which is set to make landfall on India’s eastern coast on Wednesday, several airports have suspended operations for the day. These are situated in West Bengal and Odisha, the states that’ll be heavily hit by the cyclone.
Airports that have suspended operations:
1) Kolkata Airport
Operations will remain suspended from 8.30 am to 7.45 pm on Wednesday.

2) Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneshwar
It has been shut from 11 pm on Tuesday till 5 am on Thursday.
3) Jharsuguda Airport, Odisha
The services will remain suspended from 00.01 am on Wednesday till 7.45 am Thursday.
4) Durgapur Airport, West Bengal
It will remain shut on Wednesday.
5) Rourkela Airport, Odisha
Operations will remain suspended on Wednesday.
About cyclone Yaas
Cyclone Yaas intensified into a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ on Tuesday evening. It is likely to gain a maximum speed of 155 kmph to 165 kmph gusting to 185 kmph during landfall, the India Meteorological Department said.
The cyclone is likely to cross north Odisha–West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar Islands close to north of Dhamra and south of Balasore, during noon of Wednesday as a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’, said the Cyclone Warning Division of the IMD, reported PTI.
