A resilient Indian side avoided a defeat at the Sydney Cricket Ground and kept a defiant Australian side at bay to level the four-match Test series 1-1. While the third Test was marred by racial abuse thrown at Indian players – Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah – the visiting side had the last laugh. Even though the racial abuse garnered widespread backlash, Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari’s dogged performance received appreciation.

Joining the bandwagon, David Warner posted a recap of the game in a form of a caption, highlighting the highs and lows of the Sydney Test.

“It was great to be back out on the park again this week. Was not the ideal result for us but this is what Test cricket is all about. 5 days of tough cricket and well done to our guys for working as hard as we could, congrats to India in the way they fought hard for the draw, and that’s why we love this game, it’s not easy. Move onto Brisbane now for the decider and what a place the Gabba is to play at,” Warner posted.

“I’d also like to say sorry to @mohammedsirajofficial and the Indian team as racism, and abuse is not in any way acceptable or tolerated anywhere at any time, and I would expect better from our home crowd,” Warner’s post added.

On the match front, both the camps have bit hit by the injury wave. While Australia might just lose Will Pucovski after he replaced Joe Burns, India have already lost the services of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, KL Rahul.

The teams flew to Brisbane on Tuesday with the four-Test series tied at 1-1 ahead of the final game at the Gabba starting Friday.
