The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday announced only essential passengers will be allowed to commute from 10 pm to 5 am. Proper verification of IDs will be conducted by DMRC or CISF.

This comes after Delhi metro on Tuesday had temporarily closed 4 stations on this yellow line route as a precautionary measure to ensure social distancing measure amid surging virus cases in the capital city. The stations were Patel Chowk, New Delhi, Chawri Bazar, Chandni Chowk.

The Delhi government on the same day announced that a night curfew will be imposed in the city from 10 pm to 5 am till April 30. The restrictions are being introduced as the country is reeling with another wave of coronavirus infections reported to be more intense than the first wave.

The government also announced that it is not considering the possibility of lockdown and is open to alternative options.

The National capital on recorded 500 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Monday and 15 people lost their lives due to it. In a recent tally, the city noted over 14,000 active cases, according to Delhi Health department.
