While the world is still battling the coronavirus pandemic, the first case of which was reported in the Wuhan city of China in November 2019, the internet is flooded with bizarre advice to cure the deadly disease and it seems like the suggestions are not going anywhere anytime soon.

One such hack that has been shared since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak is drinking tea. Many people on social media platforms claim that drinking a certain type of tea can prevent you from the coronavirus and if you already have it, the tea can cure the disease.

This fake hack was first advised in a post that circulated, which claimed that the Chinese doctor, Li Wenliang, who reported on the initial coronavirus cases emerging out of Wuhan also delineated possible cures in his study.

This post was shared countless times on Facebook and on other platforms like Twitter and Whatsapp.

While the opening line said “Breaking news from CNN”, neither its website nor other related handles tweeted anything remotely close to the aforementioned claim.

Scientists have worked tirelessly to manufacture vaccines that can tackle the coronavirus.

Again while some medicines or a combination of them have proved useful in the fight against coronavirus there is no specific medicine to cure the disease.

So it can be said beyond doubt that these posts are misleading as there is no evidence to corroborate the claim.
