The Haryana government
is set to reserve 75% of jobs in private sector for its residents. A draft
ordinance seeking reservation has been tabled before the state Cabinet. The reservation
was promised by Jannayak Janata Party chief Dushyant Chautala before the 2019
state assembly election.

Chautala’s party won 10
seats and formed an alliance with the ruling BJP.

The state government on Monday passed an ordinance to
reserve 75% jobs in Haryana industries for the domiciles of the state.

However, a final approval to the ordinance has to be
given by the cabinet in its next meeting.

Confirming this, deputy chief minister Haryana Dushyant
Chautala said 75% jobs in new factories/industries or already established
industries/institutions would be given to the domiciles of Haryana, according
to the reports.

The new law called, ‘Haryana State Employment to Local
Candidates Act-2020’ would be applicable only on new openings, including all private
firms, industry or service providers where the number of employees are more
than 10.

The labour department of Haryana would be responsible for
the implementation of the new law. It would be applicable only if salary of an
employee is less than Rs 50,000 per month.
