Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and family, on Friday said that India will be able to vaccinate its entire adult population against COVID-19 by the end of 2021. 

He said that the Centre has been actively supporting the vaccine manufacturers in ramping up the productions and creating availability of the vaccine to the population.

“Between August and December,
India will have procured 216 crore vaccine doses. By July itself, 51 crore
doses will be procured,” Vardhan stated at a Covid-19 review meeting with
officials from nine states and union territories.

Vardhan also said that the daily number of recoveries has overcome the daily number of COVID positive cases for 8 days in a row. India, slowly recovering from the second wave, is recording less than 3 lakh cases for 5 days and conducted 20,61,683 tests on Friday, which is the highest ever conducted in a single day.
