Actor Deepika Padukone expressed her distress over the struggles she faced with deteriorating mental health on KBC 13 in the presence of host Amitabh Bachchan and Farah Khan.

The famed actor spoke freely about her problems with depression while appearing on the Shaandaar Shukravaar episode of KBC 13, alongside director Farah Khan.

The Friday night episode is a special weekly feature where Bachchan hosts celebrities who are there to win money for a cause.

“Sir, in 2014, I had depression. I subsequently set up a mental health organisation, through which we try to de-stigmatise mental illness and create awareness about mental health.”

“I didn’t feel like going to work, I didn’t feel like meeting anybody. I didn’t go out. I didn’t feel like doing anything. Many times, and I don’t know if I should say this, but I didn’t feel like living anymore,” said Padukone.

Farah Khan mentioned that during her struggle with mental heath Deepika Padukone was at work on the sets of the film Happy New Year.

Khan goes on to say that she had no idea of what was troubling Deepika Padukone despite her being there at work with her.

“I swear, we didn’t even realise 1% what she’s going through. For many years, I used to think that she’s never been through anything like this,” said Farah.

In response Amitabh Bachchan empathised with Deepika Padukone and said in Hindi, “We pray that you never experience anything like this ever again. By sharing your personal story with everyone, you have inspired others who might be going through something like this.”
