The Centre on Saturday launched India’s vaccination anthem by singer Kailash Kher with an aim to promote the vaccination drive across the country. This comes as the country’s COVID vaccination coverage is nearing the 100-crore landmark milestone.

The song, titled ‘Bharat Ka Tikakaran’, seeks to reduce vaccine hesitancy among Indians by removing false narrative surrounding it.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri said it is “a song that slays vaccine hesitancy!”

“Because of Health Minister Mandaviya’s tireless work under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are going the achieve the target of one billion vaccination within a few days. This is a great achievement and the journey is still on,” he wrote on Twitter.

He went on to say that the vaccination programme has become a “Jan Andolan” now in the country.

“We are working as a single unit and it is the result of our combined efforts that mass vaccination drives have become successful in the country,” Puri added.

According to the Health Ministry, over 74% of the eligible population in India has received the first dose of the COVID vaccine. The second dose has been administered to over 30% of the eligible population.

The government has already administered over 97 crore doses to the eligible population and the country is expected to hit the 100-crore target by October 18-19.

Mansukh Mandaviya said on Thursday that announcements will be made at public places, including airports and railway stations, when India achieves the 100-crore landmark milestone.
