Delhi Capitals’ wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been ruled out for at least a week from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a hamstring injury, team captain Shreyas Iyer said.

“We have no idea (on Rishabh’s availability), the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong,” Iyer said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Apparently, Pant on Friday suffered the injury during the match against Rajasthan Royals and missed Sunday’s battle against Mumbai Indians, which his team lost by five wickets.

Delhi Capitals is scheduled to face Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday and Chennai Super Kings on Saturday this week.

Australian cricketer Alex Carey has replaced Pant in the playing eleven for the upcoming matches.

On Sunday, opting to bat, Delhi Capitals made a competitive 162 for four, a target which Mumbai Indians chased down with two balls to spare and Iyer admitted that they were 10-15 runs short.
