Yet another season of Indian Premier League is around the corner. The cricket carnival will kickstart in UAE reportedly with a match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians on September 19th. Having won the championship 3 times in 2010, 2011, and 2018, Chennai Super Kings has consistently managed to perform in the tournament. CSK which managed to reach finals last year will be eyeing a fourth IPL title in 2020.

Formed in January 2008, the team plays its home matches at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Its debut match was against Kings XI Punjab on 19th April 2008. The team is owned by India Cements Limited, a company headed by former International Cricket Council chairman N. Srinivasan.

Led by MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings has a carefully conceived, competent team. It had released Mohit Sharma, Sam Billings, David Willey, Dhruv Shorey, Scott Kuggeleijn and Chaitanya Bishnoi prior to the auction. It meanwhile strengthened its bowling line-up by hiring Sam Curran, Piyush Chawla, Josh Hazlewood, R Sai Kishore.

The team is coached by Stephen Fleming.

The Super Kings have lifted the IPL title thrice and have the best win percentage among all teams in the IPL. Having appeared in 10 play-offs and eight finals, they hold the records of most appearances in the playoffs and the Final of the IPL. They are the only IPL team to qualify for the playoff stage in each edition of their appearance in the league.
