Sunrisers Hyderabad register their first win of IPL 2021. A clinical performance with both bat and ball help Warner and company chase 121 runs with eight balls to spare.

Jonny Bairstow top-scored for Hyderabad as the Englishman converted a brisk start into a 48-ball half-century. Fabian Allen was the only Punjab bowler to take a wicket

In the first innings, Punjab Kings looked clueless and folded for 120 runs in 19.4 overs. It was Khaleel Ahmed who picked three wickets, including Shahrukh Khan’s (22), to lead Hyderabad’s bowling pack.

Seventh-placed Punjab Kings (PBKS) and
eighth Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will go up against each other on Wednesday,
with both teams desperately looking for a win to get them out of their current
standings and rise to the top half of the table.

Punjab Kings have won only one out of the
three matches they have played so far. Winning against Rajasthan Royals in
their IPL 2021 season opener, the Kings lost against Chennai Super Kings and
Delhi Capitals both, and currently have two points at their disposal.

SRH, on the other hand, have not yet won
a single match, losing against Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore
and Mumbai Indians so far. Any hopes of a turnaround, at this point, could only
gain steam through a win, which is essential for Sunrisers.

Head-to-head, Hyderabad seem to be a
clear favourite, with 11 wins to their name as opposed to Punjab’s five,
amongst a total of 16 IPL matches played between the two sides.
