Royal Challengers Bangalore might be on the brink of sealing a playoff spot in IPL 2022. They are fourth on the points table with seven wins and five losses. On Friday, Faf du Plessis and co would want to take a big step towards the next stage with a win over an inconsistent Punjab Kings at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. 

RCB will lock horns with Mayank Agarwal and co after registering back-to-back wins against the Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. They defeated MS Dhoni and co by 13 runs in a close encounter and then sealed a 67-run triumph versus Kane Williamson’s men.

For the 2016 runners-up, all batters have contributed to wins barring Virat Kohli. The former skipper has scored 216 runs in 12 matches so far, his highest being 58 off 53 against the Gujarat Titans. The 33-year-old has recorded three golden ducks this season. 

Uncapped Rajat Patidar, Mahipal Lomror have joined hands with skipper Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik, who has been among the best finishers in the tournament alongside Gujarat’s Rahul Tewatia.

In the bowling department, Josh Hazlewood and the ever-reliable Harshal Patel have been RCB’s go to. 

Punjab Kings, on the other hand, are placed eighth on the IPL 2022 points table with five wins and six losses. They will need to win all their remaining games to have a shot at the top-four finish.

They come to the match after facing a six-wicket loss vs the Rajasthan Royals.
