A minor IED blast occurred near the embassy in the heavily-guarded heart of Lutyens’ Delhi on Friday evening. No injuries were reported.

“The investigation into the blast near the Israeli embassy has been handed over to the NIA,” a home ministry official said.

The explosion occurred around 150 metres from the embassy on the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road, damaging some nearby cars.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, expressing his strong condemnation for the terror attack. He also asserted that India will deploy all its resources to nab and punish the culprits, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.

The PMO said that both leaders expressed satisfaction about the close coordination between Indian and Israeli security agencies in connection with the blast probe.

The Israeli foreign ministry said all its diplomats and embassy staff in Delhi are “safe and sound”.
