A 28-year-old woman, who went missing from Ayalur village in Kerala’s Palakkad 11 years ago, was found living just 500 meters from her parent’s
home, spending all these years with the man she loves Alinchuvattil Rahman. Sajitha was secretly
living in the house while other members of the family had no idea about it.

Sajitha’s family had given up hope of finding her. Family members
of 34-year-old Rahman lodged a complaint when he suddenly went
missing from his home three months ago. On Tuesday, his elder brother Basheer
spotted him by chance, and the trail led back to Rahman and Sajitha, who were
found living together on rent in another village.

After police produced the couple before a local court, they
were allowed to live together as Sajith said she wanted to live with Rahman.

According to Nenmara Police Station House Officer Deepa Kumar A, the couple hid their relationship as they belonged
to different religions. Kumar told Indian Express, “Their story sounds unusual,
but we took the couple to Rahman’s house to understand how she lived
secretly.”

Sajitha left her house in February 2010 and just walked into
Rahman’s house next door. Police searched for her everywhere, but could not
find her.

According to Bashir, Rahman lived alone in a separate room
he used to keep it locked and never let anyone inside. His parents too never
cared much since he was a hot-headed person.

Bashir told Indian Express,
“Sometimes he behaved like a mentally deranged person, would turn violent if
someone tried to get into his room. He would even take his food in to eat…
During the day, as everyone was at work, Rahman and Sajitha would have the
house to themselves.”

Rahman left his home few months ago after a fight and started living with Sajitha in a nearby village.
