Considering the ravaging second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, in April, UAE had banned travellers from India. However, on Sunday, the government of Dubai in UAE announced relaxations of travel restrictions and opened its borders to travellers from India. The relaxations will come in effect from June 23.

Here’s a list of things that one must adhere to before traveling to Dubai:

• Passengers, who have received two doses of a UAE-approved COVID vaccine, are eligible to travel to Dubai. The UAE-approved four vaccines are Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sputnik V and Oxford-AstraZeneca.

• Passengers should carry a negative RT-PCR test. The test must be taken 48 hours prior to departure.

• Passengers from India to Dubai will also have to undergo another RT-PCR test on arrival in Dubai. Moreover, post-arrival, Indian passengers must undergo institutional quarantine until they receive their PCR test result, which is expected within 24 hours.

• It is important to note that only QR-coded negative PCR test certificates are accepted.

• Only those with valid residence visa can travel from India to Dubai.

On Monday, the Health Ministry of India stated that a record of 69 lakh doses of COVID vaccines were administered on the first day of implementation of the ‘Revised Guidelines for Covid Vaccination’.

According to the revised guidelines, people above the age group of 18 are eligible for free vaccine doses which was earlier made available only to people of 45 years and above.

In past 24 hours, India recorded 53,256 new COVID-19 cases. The total caseload of the country now stands at 3 crore. This is the lowest spike of daily cases in 88 days.
