An IndiGo flight going to Lucknow from Sharjah got diverted to Jinnah International Airport at Karachi, in Pakistan, on Tuesday after there was a medical emergency onboard. The passenger who had the medical emergency could not be saved.

The patient was later declared dead on the arrival by the airport medical team, IndiGo said in a statement. The airline said that the flight 6E-1412 coming from Sharjah to Lucknow was diverted to Karachi, Pakistan. Earlier this month, an Indian air ambulance had made an emergency landing at the Islamabad airport for refuelling.

The airlines expressed it condolences and added that, “We are deeply saddened with the news and our prayers and wishes are with his family.”

In a similar incident which happened in November 2020, a Delhi-bound GoAir flight from Saudi Arabia made an emergency landing at the Karachi Airport as a passenger aboard the flight died of a heart attack, according to the reports. The passenger’s body was returned to India following required procedures.
