A video clip shared by the CISF on Twitter showing a man falling on the track after slipping off the edge of the platform at Shahdara Metro Station has gone viral.
The man who fell has been identified as Shailender Mehata. He was busy on his phone while walking close to the edge of the nearly-empty platform and he suddenly slipped.
Seeing the man on the track, a CISF personnel standing on the opposite platform rushed and offered him help. The man seemed disoriented for a few seconds as he took time to get back on his feet.

The CISF tweeted: “A passenger namely Mr. Shailender Mehata, R/O Shahdara, slipped and fell down on the metro track @ Shahdara Metro Station, Delhi. Alert CISF personnel promptly acted and helped him out.”
The video clip has garnered more than 16k views and netizens lauded the CISF personnel’s prompt action that averted a tragedy.
While one user wrote, “Kudos to the CISF personnel who went beyond his duty and saved the person.. Salute to CISF and the brave officer,” another wrote, “That’s not something beyond his duty, they are paid and trained to do so.”
“Appreciate the timely help. I think the person was using a mobile and walking. Kindly do not do such things when one is walking near railway tracks,” wrote a third.

Last year, a CISF constable was praised on social media after he saved the life of a man who collapsed at a Delhi Metro station. The constable was on duty at Dabri Metro Station around 6:50 pm when a commuter collapsed on the floor.
The video of the incident showed the constable giving the man cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to save his life.
After regaining consciousness, the man identified himself as Satyanarayan and said he was a resident of Janakpuri in Delhi.
