Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president MK Stalin took oath as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu on Friday. He was swrnin by Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

Stalin-led DMK defeated the AIADMK-BJP alliance in the recently conducted state assembly elections.

The DMK-led front won 159 of the 234 assembly seats.

He was named after famous former Soviet Union leader Joseph Stalin.

His full name is Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin.

Stalin is son of former CM and DMK Chief M Karunanidhi’s, born to his second wife Dayalu Ammal.

He has two brothers and two sisters.

He started his political career at age 14 by campaigning in the 1967 assembly elections.
