Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani has become the world’s fourth richest person with net wealth worth $80.6 billion. Ambani earned $22 billion this year overtaking French billionaire Bernard Arnault on the wealthiest persons list.

The RIL boss recently surpassed some of the biggest business giants, including Elon Musk and Alphabet Inc. co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, Bloomberg Billionaires Index showed.

At a time when some of the world’s biggest conglomerates have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, RIL’s shares have witnessed a boom as RelianceJio platforms have attracted a few major investments.

Facebook Inc. and Google have pledged investment of billions in RelianceJio. In April this year,Mark Zuckerberg-led Facebook announced that it has picked up 9.99 per cent stake in Jio Platforms Ltd (JPL) with shares worth Rs 43,574 crore.

On the other hand, Google has agreed to invest $4.5 billion taking 7.7% shares in RelianceJio. The companies also plan to make entry-level android phones in India.
