BTS and Coldplay’s collaborative new single, My Universe, debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts.

The single also entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1, the weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States.

The song was released on September 24 and is sung mostly in English with some lyrics in Korean.

Billboard’s two global charts, latest dated October 9, began in September 2020 and rank songs based on streaming and sales activity collected from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by MRC Data.

The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Exclusive US chart comprises data from territories excluding the United States.

My Universe has turned out to be a record-breaking hit with 95.4 million streams, more than 5.5 million radio airplay audience impressions and 142,400 downloads sold worldwide in the September 24-30 tracking week. 

The single is BTS’ record-extending sixth leader on the list and Coldplay’s first over the chart’s year-plus archives.

My Universe is BTS’s sixth song to top the Hot 100, following their success with Dynamite, Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat) with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo, Life Goes On, Butter, and Permission to Dance.

My Universe is also BTS’s fifth song to debut in first place on the Hot 100, making BTS the group with the most songs to debut at No. 1. for the overall record including solo artists, BTS is tied with Ariana Grande and Drake.

On the Global 200, The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” slipped to No. 2 after nine weeks on top, the most for any song so far. 

Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s “Industry Baby” backtracks to No. 3 on the Global 200, from its No. 2 high.

Additionally, Billboard reveals that “My Universe” is the first Hot 100 No. 1 song with two groups billed as the leading artists. Notably, this is Coldplay’s second time topping the Hot 100 after “Viva La Vida” in 2008.
