New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has temporarily suspended entry for all travellers from India, including its own citizens. This follows a surge in the number of COVID infections in India, with the daily infections crossing the one lakh mark twice this week.

“The suspension starts on April 11 and will be in place until April 28,” reports news agency Reuters quoting Jacinda.

Speaking at a news conference, Jacinda Ardern said that during the time, when travellers from India are banned, the New Zealand government will look at risk management measures to resume travel.
